The appearance of prints can vary on different papers due to several factors, including the paper's characteristics and the printing process. Here are some key reasons why prints may look different on different papers:
-
Paper Type and Quality: The type and quality of the paper used for printing play a significant role. Different papers have varying textures, finishes, and absorption rates, which can affect how ink interacts with the surface.
-
Coating: Some papers have coatings that affect how ink is absorbed. Glossy papers, for example, have a smooth coating that can enhance color vibrancy and sharpness, while matte papers may produce a softer, more subdued look.
-
Absorption Rate: Papers absorb ink at different rates. Highly absorbent papers may result in colors appearing more muted, while less absorbent papers can lead to more vibrant and saturated colors.
-
Texture: The texture of the paper, whether it's smooth or textured, can influence the perceived sharpness and detail of the print. Texture can also impact how light reflects off the surface.
-
Color Representation: The color representation of a print can be influenced by the paper's color. For example, a warm-toned paper may affect the overall color balance of the print.
-
Printer Compatibility: Different printers may have varying levels of compatibility with certain papers. Some printers are optimized for specific paper types, and using a paper that is not recommended for a particular printer may result in suboptimal print quality.
-
Ink Absorption and Drying Time: The interaction between the ink and the paper affects how colors are absorbed and how quickly the ink dries. This can impact color accuracy and overall print quality.
-
Longevity: The longevity and resistance to fading of prints can be influenced by the paper used. Archival-quality papers are often chosen for prints that are intended to last a long time without significant color deterioration.
In summary, the choice of paper can significantly impact the visual characteristics of a print. Factors such as texture, coating, absorption rate, and color representation all contribute to the differences observed in prints on various types of paper.

Decoupage is a popular craft technique that involves decorating objects by gluing paper cutouts onto surfaces and then sealing them with layers of varnish or glue. It's a fun and creative way to personalize various items, such as furniture, picture frames, and decorative boxes. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to decoupage:
Materials Needed:
- Base Object: This could be wood, glass, metal, or any other surface you want to decorate.
- Paper Cutouts: Use printed paper, decoupage papers, magazine clippings, or decorative paper specifically designed for decoupage.
- Decoupage Glue/Mod Podge: A special glue used in decoupage that also acts as a sealer.
- Paintbrush: For applying the glue and smoothing out the paper.
- Sealant/Varnish: To protect the finished project.
- Scissors: For cutting out the designs.
- Sandpaper: For smoothing the base object (if necessary).
- Water-based Acrylic Paint (optional): For painting the base object before applying the paper cutouts.
Steps:
-
Prepare Your Base Object:
- If the surface is rough, sand it lightly until it's smooth.
- Clean the surface to remove any dust or dirt.
-
Prepare the Paper Cutouts:
- Cut out the designs or patterns from the paper you want to use. You can use scissors for precise cuts or tear the paper for a more rustic look.
-
Apply Glue/Mod Podge:
- Using a paintbrush, apply a thin layer of decoupage glue/mod podge/water base poly to the back of the paper cutout.
- Carefully place the cutout onto the base object.
- Smooth out any air bubbles or wrinkles using your fingers or a clean, dry brush.
-
Layer the Design:
- Continue adding more cutouts, slightly overlapping them if desired, until you achieve the desired design.
-
Seal the Design:
- Once you've arranged all the cutouts, apply a layer of decoupage glue/mod podge over the entire surface, covering the paper cutouts completely.
- Let it dry completely. It will appear milky when wet but will dry clear.
-
Repeat Layers (Optional):
- For a more durable finish, repeat the process by adding more layers of paper and glue, letting each layer dry before adding the next.
-
Seal with Varnish (Optional):
- After the final layer of decoupage glue has dried, you can seal the project with a clear varnish to protect it and give it a glossy finish. Apply the varnish in thin, even coats and let each coat dry before applying the next.
-
Optional: Paint and Finish (Optional):
- If you want to add more depth to your decoupage project, you can paint the base object before applying the paper cutouts. This adds dimension and makes the design pop.
-
Let it Dry Completely:
- Allow your decoupage project to dry thoroughly between each layer and after applying the varnish.
Remember, decoupage is a versatile technique, so feel free to experiment with different papers, objects, and designs to create unique and personalized crafts.
1. Gather materials: You'll need old frames, decoupage paper or decoupage papers, decoupage glue, a brush, scissors, and varnish (optional).
2. Prepare the frames: Clean and sand the frames if needed. Remove any existing artwork or glass.
3. Choose your design: Select decoupage paper or decoupage papers with patterns or images you like. Cut out the desired shapes or images.
4. Apply decoupage glue: Brush a thin layer of decoupage glue onto the frame's surface where you want to apply the paper.
5. Apply the paper: Carefully place the cutout paper onto the glued area. Smooth out any wrinkles or bubbles using your fingers or a soft brush.
6. Repeat and layer: Continue applying paper pieces, overlapping them if you want to create a layered effect. Allow each layer to dry before adding the next.
7. Seal the design: Once you're satisfied with the arrangement, apply a few more coats of decoupage glue over the entire frame, allowing each coat to dry in between.
8. Optional varnish: For added protection and a glossy finish, apply a coat or two of varnish over the decoupage design. Let it dry completely.
9. Reassemble: Reinsert any removed glass or artwork, and your upcycled frame is ready to use!
This DIY project can breathe new life into old frames, making them unique and personalized decorative pieces. Enjoy crafting!
Creating a custom piece of art using public domain resources can be a fun and creative endeavor. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you get started:
1. Understand Public Domain:
- Public domain works are those whose copyrights have expired, or that were never eligible for copyright protection. They are free to use by the public for any purpose.
2. Find Public Domain Resources:
- Websites: Explore websites like Pixabay, Wikimedia Commons, and Project Gutenberg. These platforms offer a vast collection of public domain images, texts, and other resources.
- Museums and Libraries: Many institutions digitize their collections and provide public access. For instance, the Smithsonian Institution and the Library of Congress have online public domain resources.
3. Select Your Resources:
- Choose images, texts, or other media that inspire you and align with your artistic vision. You can mix and match resources to create something entirely new.
4. Understand Usage Rights:
- Even in the public domain, some restrictions might apply (like giving credit to the creator). Ensure you understand and adhere to these rules.
5. Create a Concept:
- Decide what you want to create. It could be a digital collage, a painting, a digital artwork, or anything else you can imagine.
6. Create Your Art:
- Digital Art: Use graphic design software like Adobe Photoshop, GIMP, or Canva to manipulate and combine images. You can also use vector graphics software like Adobe Illustrator or Inkscape for scalable and detailed artwork.
- Traditional Art: Print the public domain images you’ve chosen or use them as references for your paintings, drawings, or sculptures.
7. Add Your Creative Touch:
- Modify and combine the resources to add your unique style. Experiment with colors, filters, textures, and composition to make the artwork your own.
8. Give Credit (if necessary):
- If the public domain resource requires attribution, make sure to give credit to the original creator. This information is usually provided along with the resource.
9. Share Your Art:
- Showcase your artwork on social media, art platforms, or personal websites. Be proud of your creation and share the story behind it.
10. Respect Public Domain Rights:
- If you decide to share your artwork, specify that your new creation is in the public domain or has a specific license. This helps others understand how they can use your work.
Remember, the public domain is a wonderful resource, but always double-check the usage rights associated with each resource you intend to use to ensure you are in compliance with copyright laws and restrictions.

When using artwork, including images, illustrations, and other forms of creative expression, it is crucial to adhere to ethical guidelines and respect the rights of artists and creators. Here are some key ethical considerations when using artwork in the context of AI:
1. Copyright and Intellectual Property:
- Respect Copyright Laws: Ensure that you have the right to use the artwork. Respect copyright laws and only use artwork that you have the legal right to use, or that is in the public domain.
- Obtain Proper Licenses: If you need to use copyrighted artwork, obtain the necessary licenses or permissions from the creator or copyright holder. This often involves contacting the artist or using platforms that offer licensed artwork.
2. Attribution and Recognition:
- Give Proper Credit: Always credit the artist when using their work, even if it's not legally required. Proper attribution is a fundamental aspect of ethical use of creative content.
- Respect Moral Rights: Some jurisdictions recognize moral rights, which include the right to attribution. Even if not legally required, it's ethically important to respect the moral rights of artists.
3. Manipulation and Deepfakes:
- Avoid Misrepresentation: Do not manipulate artwork in a way that distorts the original meaning or misrepresents the artist's intentions. Respect the integrity of the original work.
- Transparency: If you're using AI to generate or manipulate artwork, be transparent about it. Disclose that the work has been created or altered by an AI system.
4. Cultural Sensitivity and Appropriation:
- Respect Cultural Context: Be mindful of the cultural context of the artwork. Avoid using artwork in a way that could be culturally insensitive or appropriative.
- Understand Cultural Significance: If using artwork from a different culture, understand its significance and ensure it is used respectfully and appropriately.
5. Commercial Use and Profit:
- Commercial Use: If you're using artwork for commercial purposes, be especially diligent about obtaining proper licenses and permissions. Artists deserve to be compensated for their work, especially in commercial contexts.
- Profit Sharing: If your AI-generated work using artwork generates profits, consider profit-sharing models with the original artists, if feasible and applicable.
6. Public Good and Accessibility:
- Public Good: Consider how the use of artwork contributes to the public good. Ethical AI applications should aim to benefit society and respect the values and norms of the communities they serve.
- Accessibility: Ensure that the artwork and AI-generated content are accessible to people with disabilities, following relevant accessibility guidelines.
7. Continuous Learning and Adaptation:
- Stay Informed: Keep up-to-date with evolving laws and ethical standards related to artwork usage and AI. These standards can change, and it’s important to stay compliant with current regulations.
- Adapt Ethical Guidelines: As AI technology evolves, so do ethical considerations. Be willing to adapt your guidelines and practices to align with new ethical standards.
By following these guidelines and being mindful of the ethical implications, AI developers and users can promote responsible and respectful use of artwork in their applications.

Wholesale and commission-based vendors are two different business models used in retail and sales. Here's how they differ:
Wholesale:
-
Definition: Wholesale refers to the sale of goods or merchandise in large quantities to retailers, who then sell these products to end customers. Wholesalers typically sell products at a lower price per unit because they sell in bulk.
-
Pricing: Wholesalers offer products at a discounted price to retailers. Retailers buy in bulk, which allows them to get products at a lower cost per unit, enabling them to make a profit when selling at the regular retail price to consumers.
-
Revenue Model: Wholesalers make their profit by selling a large volume of products, even if the profit margin per unit is relatively low.
If you are interested in our Wholesale program, please email us at pbjprints@gmail.com
Vendor Paid on Commission (30%-$6.99 subscription or 40% Commission-$19.99 Subscription):
-
Definition: A vendor who earns a commission is typically an individual or a business that sells products or services on behalf of another company. The vendor earns a percentage of the sales amount as a commission for each sale made.
-
Pricing: The vendor sells the products or services at the regular retail price. When a sale is made, the vendor earns a commission, which is a percentage (in this case, 30% or 40% depending on subscription plan) of the total sale value.
-
Revenue Model: The vendor's revenue is directly tied to the sales they generate. They earn a percentage of each sale as commission, providing an incentive to sell more products or services.
You can signup here: https://pbjartprints.com/pages/become-a-seller
In summary, the key difference lies in the pricing structure and how these entities make a profit. Wholesalers sell products in bulk at a discounted price to retailers, while vendors paid on commission sell products at regular retail prices and earn a percentage of the sales amount as their commission.
1. Choose the Right Platforms: Select social media platforms that align with your target audience. Instagram and Pinterest are popular for visual art, while platforms like Facebook and Twitter can also be effective.
2. Create High-Quality Content: Share high-resolution images of your artwork. Use good lighting and make sure your photos accurately represent your work.
3. Consistent Branding: Maintain a consistent visual style and voice in your posts to build brand recognition.
4. Engage with Your Audience: Respond to comments, messages, and engage with your followers. Building relationships can lead to more sales and loyal fans.
5. Use Hashtags: Research and use relevant hashtags to increase your discoverability.
6. Post Regularly: Consistent posting keeps your audience engaged. Consider creating a content calendar.
7. Stories and Live Streams: Utilize features like Instagram Stories or Facebook Live to give your followers a behind-the-scenes look at your creative process.
8. Collaborate and Network: Partner with other artists or influencers in your niche for cross-promotion.
9. Paid Advertising: Consider using paid advertising options on social media to reach a broader audience.
10. Analyze and Adjust: Monitor your analytics to see which posts perform best and adjust your strategy accordingly.
Remember that success may take time, so be patient and persistent in your efforts to market your artwork on social media.
