We that decoupaging can be fustrating espcially when there is a ton of creases. We scrounged the world for this paper and we are in love! This paper is handmade and luxurious. You will not find any other like it. This is silky smooth, thin and pliable at 16gsm weight. It blends into furniture beautifully and will make your crafts look like they were hand-painted.
PREPARE YOUR SURFACE: You can decoupage on pretty much any surface. We do recom-
mend that you ensure any surface that is slick or has oil be cleaned with a degreaser.
PAINT SURFACE: If you choose to paint the surface with chalk or acrylic paint, make sure
that the area is completely dry before application.
APPLY RICE PAPER: Cut the rice paper to size to fit the desired area. For larger sheets of rice paper, we have found it easier if the rice paper is cut down to fit the desired area. Work with the rice paper in small sections, apply a thin amount of polyacrylic on prepped or painted surface. Smooth out any bubbles or wrinkles. Make sure to be gentle so the rice paper doesn’t tear. We recommend using a smooth plastic tool or brayer.
Let the polyacrylic completely dry.
Apply another coat of polyacrylic to seal the rice paper. Reapply the polyacrylic to areas where the rice paper has not properly adhered to. Keep in mind that while the rice paper is wet from the polyacrylic application, there may be bubbles and wrinkles. Once the polyacrylic dries, the bubbles and wrinkles should smooth away.
Pro Tip: To take our any wrinkle or creases by simply using a fine mist water bottle. Be sure to lighly mist the paper.
FINISHING TOUCHES: Remove excess rice paper, once the polyacrylic has dried, you can
sand (with a 220 grit) or use a X-acto knife.
